Lake Osoyoos
looking Northward

Difficult to tell from this photo, however this was a near record cold morning for Lake Osoyoos, below -20C with sea smoke (steam rising from the warm lake water) and a steady northerly breeze

... the extreme cold is an infrequent occurrence in winter, but especially so early (mid December)

A zoom in of a Native winery/orchard across the lake... the wind whipping up white caps while the lake is steaming with the relatively warm water saturating the very cold air

Canada Goose

... there are A LOT of them spending the winter(s) here...

View from dad's balcony one early and cold morning after a fresh snow ... looking towards the 'east bank'

Outhouse in one of the wineries that Brandy and I walked frequently
Sunrise on a cold and 'steamy' morning
Considering the air is -20C, the lake must feel like a Hot Tub experience with the water some 20 degrees warmer ...

It continued to stay cold as December marched on, and the lake began to freeze over, which eventually it completed by early January

White Sands  is the name of the Condo Group where my dad rents

The tall pole by the boats has an Osprey nest on top

At Christmas time my dad played for various groups of local seniors, this moment captured at a local Retirement Home

The trail left by the ducks is telltale of not only how cold the water is (starting to freeze the surface) but also that the ducks know it best to split up with Brandy approaching ... or so it seems ;-)

The snow kept falling...

... to the point that a new record for snow in December was set.

This area normally sees only 5cm snow for an average Winter... this year over 30cm fell in December alone

Osoyoos

Population about 5000

Note the lake is frozen over along with a fresh covering of snow... not a common sight

Still, some say it has not been this cold with this much snow in 40 to 60 years... however the ice is not thick, perhaps a couple of inches (5cm) so even walking on it is risky
